“가지 마세요” (PLEASE DON’T GO)

“I wish you could stay longer”, I barely muttered as I breathed deeply inhaling the smell of my father on his shirt.

His deteriorating condition forces me to confront the inevitable farewell looming on the horizon.

This art piece became a means to grapple with a reality I'm unwilling to accept.

I didn’t think I would get emotional, but something hit me when I smelled him on his shirt. I’m going to miss what felt like a guaranteed presence my whole life.

As the shirt flew away all I could say was,

“Dad, 가지 마세요” (please don’t go)…
